Today is 31.12.2010. It's time to look back on 2010. It's been a year of much running for me.
I took part in 8 events this year (record was 9 in 2008). The events in 2010 included 2 overseas events and 2 Half-Marathons and 1 25km distance - which are Marathon and Ultra Marathon distance for people like me.
Standard Chartered Marathon Spore 2010 (21km)
POSB Run for Kids 2010 (4.5km Fun Run)
Army Half Marathon 2010 (21km)
PAssion Run 2010 (25km)
Bidor Half Marathon 2010 (10km)
2XU Compression Run 2010 (12km)
North East Run 2010 (16km)
Standard Chartered HKM 2010 (10km)
POSB Run for Kids 2010 (4.5km Fun Run)
Army Half Marathon 2010 (21km)
PAssion Run 2010 (25km)
Bidor Half Marathon 2010 (10km)
2XU Compression Run 2010 (12km)
North East Run 2010 (16km)
Standard Chartered HKM 2010 (10km)
Also clocked the most mileage this year compared to previous years which is expected because there is no shortcut for clocking mileage for anything more than 10km:
May-Dec 07 --> 240km
Jan-Dec 08 --> 451km
Jan-Dec 09 --> 463km
Jan-Dec 10 --> 557km
I supposed most people will tell me "Well done" and say I'm improving in terms of distance and participation.
But the year 2010 ended sadly more me. Depressingly is probably more accurate. I fracture my little right toe on my own carelessness. The doctor after seeing the x-ray told me no jumping or running for 3 months and after seeing my reaction repeated it again. Just 3+ weeks before SCMS 21km. How depressingly sad. I was building up mileage and looking forward to a great experience. In the end, I had a great experience with photos for my Universal Studios, Singapore run but walked almost the entire 21km, most terrible was walking up and down the Keppel Road and ECP and under the blazing hot sun with no shade.
Much to be sad and much to be thankful for the year that is coming to an end in 1 1/2 hrs from now.
Surprisingly, whether friends and readers believe it or not, I've yet to start any jogging yet since my fracture. The little toe is still swollen even today after going out for 6 hours just now. My tummy is getting bigger and I've been trying to control the volume of food consumed which in the past I don't bother much. But after my overseas holiday and Christmas holidays, it's getting worrying personally.
My 3 months deadline will end 3rd week of Feb 2011. I target to start my first jog in first week March 2011. I have already signed up for Sundown 2011 21km Half-Marathon at end of May 2011. 3 months is really not wise but then, w/o some crazy streak or motivation, who would make themselves run under the sun, clock the mileage an pay for events + walking under the blazing sun?
Well, wishing everyone a blessed and wonderful 2011. May 2011 be a better year for you in terms of your school/work/family/relationships/finances and goals. God bless you.
