SCMS 2011 - 21km

Bad experience. What to say.......under-trained & my bib was ripped off my race belt.

21.1km in 3 hr 40min, almost matched my last year's Personal Worst but that was with a broken toe. :(

27th training (31st run) of 2011

Started at 4:31pm. It wasn't blazing hot but warm. Maybe I wasn't well hydrated or not enough salts, but it was energy zapping and tiring. I carried a 500ml mineral water bottle and even topped up 2x at 2 water/toilet stops. Still I suffered a near left hamstring cramp at 12km.

Completed 13km in 1hr 46mins. 8 min 9 sec per km average pacing. Walked a lot after 10km. Had a reasonable work out. I had not completed 11km since 14/08 when I did 15.44km. So, I need to start clocking up the mileage coming up to the SCMS HM.

Mizuno Wave Run 2011

I signed up for this using U Sports. So, I paid $33 for this event.
Left home at 5:40am. Took bus 87 and changed to bus 8 at Bedok Interchange. On return, took bus 5 and changed to bus 87 at Kaki Bukit Ave 1. Doable, so i don't mind joining this event in future years. Unlike ECP which I won't join if it is Sunday morning event. Saturday afternoon for ECP is ok.

Race experience was ok. Met Jacq along the route and just before the finishing, dressed in 2XU from top to bottom. She was very consistent jogger although she said she was still jet-lagged from her return from Europe.

Good
* Not stopping for traffic (from condo residents) along the route (happened to me before)
* 3 water points is sufficient But.... see 'Bad' below
* Cold 100Plus at 3rd water point.
* Finisher Tee is nice. Mizuno Running Vest + T-shirt is quite good for a 10k event.
* Finisher medal - it's nice colour but not as impressive in weight & make as other events.
* Place is quite bus accessible.

Bad
* 2.5km and 5km water points, I stopped for 100Plus and gave up. Long queue, people cutting to take w/o queue, therefore only took plain water.
* 5km water point then ran out of 100 Plus. The volunteers were frantic shouting and asking people to get from next table (which was only plain water)
* Lack of Distance marker. First few km, follow the Park distance marker (Little blue stones on the right hand side of the trail) for 1st 3km.
* My Endomondo measured 10.51km. Subtract 100m (since I started it where I was queuing), it was 10.41km. The bad is I nearly punctured after re-starting my jog at 9km mark (per Endomondo).
* The queuing for (1) Medal + Finisher Tee Coupon and (2) Finisher Tee was bad, bad, bad.
* No proper announcement that runners must collect the medal & coupon or cannot collect Finisher Tee. Quite a number around me had to reverse back after queuing more than 10mins for Tee when they were told they need the coupon that comes with Medal before the 100Plus.
* Took me almost 24mins from finishing to getting my Tee.

Lastly, I probably won't have a timing since no Beep when I passed under both gantry incl Finish Line. I supposed my fault as I forgot to make sure my bib with timing wire was not bent. Sad :(

But otherwise, the run itself was alright. It was quite a hot day and I had some sunstroke. After an afternoon nap, still got headache now

Endomondo & Stopwatch (exclude 100m before Start line): Distance: 10.41km in 1hr 21mins. Average pace of 7mins 47secs. Satisfied with my timing.

26th training (29th) run of 2011

A shorten weekend run because maid got wifey's permission to come back late at 6:30pm but no one informed me. I woke up from my nap at abt 4pm. Sat around already changed waiting for her to come back by 5pm. When I sms her at 5:15pm, I realised I better quickly jump out and do a 1hr run which would be abt 8km.

Anyway, I started at 5:25pm. Completed 9.14km in 1 hr 8mins. Avg pace of 7min 27secs/ km. A good  workout for me.

25th training (28th) run of 2011

There was haze (PSI 55 at 4pm per NEA website), some light rain in the afternoon and a wedding dinner at Suntec at 7:30pm.

Still, when there was no rain at 4:50pm, I did a quick change and hoped to cover 5-6km. I started at almost 5pm and told myself no matter what, I cannot exceed 1 hour (max <8km).

As is, I ran the 1st km in a record 6min 30secs and by 1.5km mark, I had stitch that covered nearly the entire right hand side of my tummy, I heaved and felt like throwing up a few times. Too fast. A quick run almost ruined my run. An 8min/km jogger like me should not do 6.5min/km.

So with walk, walk, I completed 6.93km in 54mins. A 7min 47secs/km avg pacing. Quite happy since it met my target. Showered and attended the wedding dinner where there was so many of my colleagues from msi incl some ex-colleagues too.

24th training (27th) run of 2011

Due to grandma's funeral, was away and missed my Singapore Bay Run last weekend. After last night's flight back and an entire weekend of over-eating, I decided I must do at leat 7km.

I started at 5:32am and did find the going tough. Fitness really goes for a once a week jogger. Anyway, I had a good workout. 8.68km in 1 hour, 7 min and 15 secs. A 7 min 45 secs average pace with probably 50% walking.

23rd training (26th) run of 2011

Not a long run. it was cloudy, overcast. Some light drips from the sky towards end of run.

Covered 10.6km in 1hr 24mins, a reasonable avg pace of 7min:55secs/km pacing - close to my comfy avg of 8min/km.

22nd training (25th) run of 2011

I had a demanding tiring week and the next week would be busy. So, I only planned 10km run.

I realised I made some mistakes. I only drank just sufficient before the run start, didn't bring a bottle of water, expected to drink from the toilet next to the eating places at Punggol not far from Sg Halus Wetland. Problem was, the toilet which was betw 5km-6km was there BUT all the toilet taps were spoilt. So NO water/ hydration. Having run around 7min/km pace instead of my more comfortable 8min/km pace, I was in BIG trouble. By 8km, I was walking but my saliva was really sticky and thick, no more saliva, my muscles from hamstrings and shoulders were aching, I was dehydrating and facing muscular shutdown from lack of hydration even with mainly walking. Pity some humans were so inconsiderate to spoil every single of the 4 taps.

Completed 10.61km in 1hr 21mins - Avg 7min 38secs/km even with so much walking esp after the 7km mark. So, I was really going too fast the first 5km.

21st training (24th) run of 2011

LSD done. Started earlier at 5pm as it was cloudy afternoon.

Extended the 9km loop to Serangoon Park Connector going to Punggol Point and Lorong Halus Wetland. Interesting.

All in 15.44 km in 2 hour 9 mins. because at Lorong Halus I walked around exploring. First time there. Thus average pace all in was 8min 24min which was not bad because when jogging was going at face pace of around 7min/km or even less.

20th training (23rd) run of 2011

Sunday flying to off to Hanoi so no LSD. Decide to run on Sat morning. I though I slept before 11:30pm but then woke up 6:15am liao. Felt.......tired. My body and my mind. It had been 2 weeks of extreme rushing & pressure.

Well, it was still dark when I started at 6:45am. 7km on, I felt like throwing up. Not sure why. Stomach empty except for water I drank. Not a good sign. Anyway, with more walking, comp[leted 10.20km in the end.

Average pace recorded was7mins 28 secs for 10.2km which means I ran too fast at some spots. Probably explains why I felt like throwing up.

19th training (22nd) run of 2011

Started out late. Reached home after prayer mtg and NEX almost 4:30pm. Extreme exhausted. Slept 1hr 15mins from 4:35pm to 5:50pm. So by the time I started my session it was 6pm (exactly per my Hp Endomondo app).

I did really slow and steady pace. Real happy with the pace. Had time to ask the Lord abt the SDC and where I go. I think I got part answer.

Timing not realiable becase at Rivervale, just after Bakau LRT, 2 Arabs asked me where is nearest "Masjid". It was a Malay word I haven't heard in a while. After turning around left, right, front and back, I told them nearest was near Buangkok MRT. They didn't know where. They said they were new to the area. Eventually, told them to take LRT to Sengkang MRT, go to the basement and take 1 station to Buangkok. Not sure if they got it. They didn't seem certain.

Well, I eventually completed 12.61km before stopping outside Compass Point. Time recorded was 1hr 43mins 10secs for 12.61km which would be average pace of 8mins 11 secs/ km. Really happy as felt good except the leg below right knee felt some strain even with the slow steady pace.

18th training (21st) run of 2011

I started out earlier today, it was bright and sunny. But Australian Network was not showing the WCE vs Dockers game live. Started at 5:42pm, not very much earlier but I was almost gonna to slack :p

I did the LRT loop which was abt 9km. The Endomondo did not start from the start point and I only realised after I reached Anchorvale CC and the app did not announce the lap time. So, first 1.1km not recoded.

Anyway, the app recorded 14.43km. I did the LRT 9km loop + my standard 5km loop. Came out to abt 15.53km in 2 hour 1 min (excluding 3 toilet stops for water and toilet which came up to 4-5mins). Avg pace of 7:49/km was better than I expected.

17th training (20th) run of 2011

Again had a lazy temptation to not run since it drizzled up to 4pm+

Anyway, I started out late at 5:55pm. Actually cloudy day should have gone out at 5:30pm, but then......

Completed 11.35km in 1:28:35 (Avg pace of 7min 48 secs/km). Quite happy.

Tried a new route supposedly to go to Punggol Marina and beyond. But still under construction and the park connector stopped even b4 Punggol Marina!

16th training (19th) run of 2011

Sometimes I really lack discipline and motivation. No half marathon round the corner. It rained a bit till 4pm+. Then 5pm+ look at the pavements and don't feel like running. In the end, only start at 5:52pm because I tell myself to clock 6km.

When I reached the 4km mark, I decided to explore the Serangoon Park Connector Network (PCN) that I always see people jogging, walking and cycling on. It actually connects from Fernvale to Yio Chu Kang Road. Nice refreshing change. Route from Endomondo below. Completed 10.62km in 1:26. Avg pace of just over 8min/km which is alright. But I found it tough. Pain under my heart during the run. Not a good sign. So walked a lot after the 6km mark.

14th training (17th) run of 2011

Actually was debating whether to do more or less than 10km after my 7.9km run on Friday morning.

I took my nap a little late this afternoon. Woke up with a headache. Drank 3 mugs of fluids, as felt thirsty. It was bright and sunny before 5pm. Turned cloudy and then sun came out again. Must admit, I had 2 minds and excuses like (I'm on leave tomorrow, maybe can do Monday morning or evening run, etc).

Anyway, eventually clocked exactly 11km in 1hr 25mins. Stardard 9km route + 2km extension. Quite satisfied.
But my tummy will need a lot more exercise to brun off the 5 days of sinful feasting in KL!!

13th training (16th) run of 2011

Church camp at Mines Resort - Palace of the Golden Horses hotel.
I did pack running attire to camp. But after 2 mornings, very lazy even though bump into church firends who went for morning runs.
On the 4th day in KL, I woke up early enough. Decided to change when it didn't look like rainng and light from the sun started to light up the place. I am very conscious that Msia isn't the safest of place for a chinese to run around in the dark.
I srated out at 6:55am, out the main gates, turned right and went up the road. Didn't realise until after sometime it was up slope. No wonder felt it took quite a bit of effort even though it was only a few hundred metres. At 1km mark, reached the guard post and barriers to the Mines Residences. Guard didn't allow me to run inside. So U turn. Reached main entrance to hotel, 2km done.Decied to run round to Mines business City. Horrible la. Smelly roads, dusty and all. Ran back towards hotel again.
Went into hotel grounds and ran around until reached golf course.
Eventually clocked 7.91km in 1hr 5mins. Pity, another 100m and it would have been a nice 8km.
View my running route on Endomondo. Can see I was running unplanned here and there. Very brave to run on the roads when most pple ran in pairs or on the golf course only. Must thank God for his protection!

12th training (15th) run of 2011

Already 12 June 2011 and only 15th run of 2011. It's been a slow running year. Imagine just an accidental toe fracture and all the training and stamina goes out the window.

This afternoon I started at 5:30pm. It was sunny. But today was a hot, energy sapping run. I felt exhausted. I stopped for water at a coffee shop toilet and also at my regular Rivervale Mall toilet. I think I drank enough before I started. But today was tough run.

I targeted 10km. When I stopped, the Endomondo recorded 11.23km. Completed in 1hr 32mins, 8min 12 secs average pace with lots of walking.

11th training (14th) run of 2011

It's been such a long while since I could even leave office before 6:30pm. But after exit mtg done, waiting for my colleague to finish her documentation, aircon freezing my fingers off, i decided to leave earlier.

Reach home by 7:15pm, pavements seem reasonably dry. Changed and went out. Started at around 7:22pm.

Per Endomondo, clocked 8.60km in 1 hr 6mins. Decent time with average pace of 7min 40secs per km. Amzingly free GPS app said my fastest pace was 5min/km!!!!! And fasrter 1km lap was the 7th km completing in 7mins and 21secs.

Sundown 2011 - Half Marathon

Official Runpix Results are out:

TIME: 3h:20m:0s (gun) / 3h:16m:28s (net)

http://www.runpix.info/wrace2/00/finord_one.php?id=C2267&ev=sun11&dt=21&ln=

Plus 1 nice photo:

I might as well re-post my posting on sgrunners:

After not doing SD since the 1st edition (because of the high fee, not so +ve feedback on organiser, Hivelocity and also no finisher tee for those doing < 42km), I wanted to try a night Half. Was hoping I could do 3hrs since no sun like AHM. But it was so humid and not had enough training after recovering from my fractured toe. So, actual time far exceeded my fantasy time.
Experience wise, it was good. Transport back and forth was ok although the return night bus at $8 was not so satisfying, taking almost 1 hr to reach Sengkang after some delays departing (abt 20mins after the hour) and mine was 2nd last stop.
I finally saw my Runpix timing after this morning scare why my 10km and 42km friends can search but my 21km cannot.
I got my softcopy (PDF) color finisher cert with Chip Time.

I got 3 photos. 2 had part of me/head chopped off. But the first photo was *Fantastic*. Just under the arch, with the Gun time and me at least looking like I still could run some more with painful ankles, knee and hamstring (the right pose with elbows bent although it not planned!)

The night carnival type atmosphere, stage concert, vendors selling $1 ice-cream, chicken, etc and also free popcorn and candy floss was nice to be part of.

Therefore, I had a good experience overall.

Sundown Half Marathon 2011

In the 1st SD, I did 10.5km and it came with Adidas vest, finisher tee. After that, no participate as the fees were always expensive. This year, it cost me less, thanks to USports. But the vest sponsor is now NB and no Finisher tee, even for HM. Pity.

I took the chartered SMRT buses from EXPO, paying $1. 45-50mins to reach. On the way, saw the 10km runners on Aviation Park Road. Looking a masses of joggers & walkers between 1.5km and 3.5km of a 10km route felt funny.

I had time to read my novel, eat my snack bar before my 8pm HM start. Didn't take much photos to preserve my Hp battery.

The event start - wah....so many 21km participants. The MC was loud and noisy. Hee hee.

Along the route, I start a good pace with walking the first 2.5km since it was as fast as the people jogging or plodding steadily infront of me due to the people  jam. Good to conserve energy.

It was really humid. Along Aviation road, I felt sweat on my arms. I see runners passing me glistening with sweat. I was hoping no one would faint from excessive sweating & loss of salts. Hydration was alright. Water and 100Plus alternated around every 2km along the 21km route.

I jogged between the 3km to 6km. Even number means got hydration point. From then, i was thinking, after drink, walk 1km and jog 1km. Too bad by the time I hit 9km, my hamstrings tell me 'no'. It was basically fast walk from 8km. surprisingly, nowadays a lot of people, male and female can walk as fast as my fast pace. It amazed me but good to walk along with more and more people as the distance wore on.

At the 10km mark, I got my water and queue for toilet at the pair of portable loo. Took so long. Must have waited about 5mins in the dark and then gave up. 1km later, drank my 100Plus and queue at another pair of portable loo with only 1 lady queuing. After that done, felt much better. I think the cup of coffee at 1pm during lunch has a greater diuretic effect than expected because I've never experienced going to loo before, during and after a run event even though I've also done 21km and 25km before. Next time, no kopi on race day.

Then i jogged a bit until my hamstrings protested. Then it was the long walk from 13km to 21.1km. Must have over-taken quite a lot who were walking slower than me as some definitely suffered cramps. I just wanted to finish it and rest my tiring and aching legs.

I walked all the way, ignoring the student volunteers urging people to run a little bit more. No way I want to cramp up and collapse just before the finish. That would be a real waste. The pain I feel in my ankles, knees and the tight hamstrings mean if I try a run, I'd be really risking it. I stopped to take photos before crossing the finish arch. Crazy, huh? Even took photo of the Athlete's welfare area - where they distributed 1 can of 100Plus, 1 bottle of mineral water, Finisher medal and 1 banana.

Overall, I think I completed 21.29km in 3 hour 17min. Wasn't great. But less than my personal cut-off of 3:30. Way beyond my PB of 2:52 at AHM 2010. Endomondo recorded the route, lap times and avg pace: http://www.endomondo.com/workouts/12087865

Happy with the event even though there were warnings that this was a Hivelocity event and previous years had many complaints from bus transportation to race logistics, etc. But I doubt I would sign up again. Without the reduced USports fee, it would be too expensive, although race fees for all events are rising.

PAssion Run 2011

Was unwell the whole day. Sinus since morning. I think it didn't help when my kids the night before woke me around 11pm arguing and then morning wifey on the living room lights before 6am. Had running nose. Dehydrated too.

I started the first 4km really too fast, at times, doing sub-7min/km pace. Hydration was sufficient. Mountain water and 100Plus alternate around every 2km or less. Got public toilets which helped since I drank too much just before event and not enough the whole day. But ya, BBQ smoke wafting across caused my eyes to tears at some points and a friend said BBQ smoke made her hungry!!

My left hamstring tightened just before 8km with more than 1/3 to go. I walked. When I tried to jog, it cramped and I had to walk. Later on when I jogged, even the right hamstring cramped. :((

500m from finish line, saw a man unconscious on his left side on the right side of pavement on grass patch. 2 guys were administering some CPR and trying to talk to get his attention. Security lined the right side of pavement and moved runners along.

Finished in 1hour 36min, slower than my expected time of 1hr 30 and slower than my 2XU 12km at Sentosa in 2010 when I completed in 1:26.

Cramps were really bad. As I crossed the Bedok South Ave 1 to get to bus stop to catch bus to Bedok, nearly got knock down by car cause my right hamstring froze and suddenly stopped and was hoping no vehicle came and knock me on the rather dark road near to the flyover.

Endomondo recorded quite accurately: A bit extra distance because I went into toilet and also stopped GPS recording late: http://www.endomondo.com/workouts/11552803

10th training (11th) run of 2011

Today weather was bright when I woke up from my nap just before 5pm.
Felt tired and little mood to go for run.
But then, there's where the mental comes in despite how my body and emotions were.
Out at 5:25pm. Was overcast. nice & cooling actually.
Pity Endomondo did not start recording. I stopped at the bridge over the river to check because at the 1km Anchorvale CC mark, the voice Coach did not announce the lap time.
So Endomondo recorded 13.50km. http://www.endomondo.com/workouts/11115075

Total distance clocked will be 14.6km (13.50 + 1.1km) in 1hr 56mins. Avg pace of 7:57min/km. Nice timing.

Reasonably happy. 50% of my 21km distance with DD HM 2 weeks away. Next Satuday 12km PAssion run treat as part taper for SD HM.

Singapore Bay Run 2011

Didn't sign up for 21km. Over-running can lead to leg and knee injuries.
Back to 10km for this run. It will probably be hot but bearable. Good to have a tee rather than singlets. Hope it's a nice design like last year's. $25 for 10km (or $26.75 including some online payment charges)

9th training (10th) run of 2011

Phew! It has been a blazing HOT weekend. Even at 5:30pm, it was so hot, bright and sunny. I really didn't feel like doing any run. also mentally tired due to sleeping around 3:30am after close of polling results.

Anyway, another slow but not too slow. In the end, covered 15.20km in 2hr 2min (Avg pace of 8min per km) which is decent pacing. But a hot late afternoon run is energy sapping. Whether am prepared for the 12km PAssion Run and 21km Sundown remains to be seen.

8th training (9th) run of 2011

Haiz. Was actually not feeling upto running. The spirit not strong. didn't have my 1 hr nap in the afternoon before run. But then, can I say that I was busy on my PC doing something for one of my pastors? ^_^

Anyway, I forced myself to go out before 5pm. it was an overcast day and really no excuse except for a lack of internal drive. But then, with the upcoming 12km and HM, I forced myself.......

Was disappointed my upper left hamstring (just below the back of the knee) cramped just after 9km. My pace already so slow and when it hardens and cramps, ain't much you can do about it. I pushed myself to clock the distance but it was a lot of walk walk walk.

You can see the lap times and pacing from Endomondo here: http://www.endomondo.com/workouts/10095239

So, finished 12.81km in 1hr 48min and 5s, average pace of 8min 26 secs/ km. Not good. But it's done.

Mizuno Wave Run 2011 - 25 Sept 2011

Used my U-run credits (2 used, 1 to go).
So instead of ppaying $45 or $42 (PAssion card rate), I paid $33.
Not so keen on this run but they confirm I cannot c/fwd the U-Run credit which I paid $99 for.

7th training (8th) run of 2011

13.10km on Good Friday night. Was still feeling the effects on my knees and hamstrings.
But crazy lah. Don't have other reason.

5:30pm (almost too late to go out run liao, I saw it was cloudy but no thunder or rain). Decided to go out and do a 6km run.

As it was, when running, decided to do at least 7km and see if can total 21km over 2 days (incl Friday's 13km).

As it turned out, I clocked 8.17km on Endomondo and adding Friday's 13.10, I have 21.27km. Good too good to hear my wishes on this Easter Sunday.

Easter Sunday: 8.17km over 1h 3m 10s (Average pace of 7min 44s per km)

Good Friday: 13.10km over 1h 51m 15s (Average pace of 8min 30s per km)

I'm a happy camper :))

6th training (7th) run of 2011

Good Friday evening run. Had a nap in the afternoon. The air was nice and cool due to the shower in the afternoon. It was overcast even when I started at 5:37pm.

But hamstrings felt tight fairly early on. At the 5th - 6th km mark based on Endomondo. THat's way too early for a slow jog. After 6th km, it was above 8min/km pace because of the walking. Sad that cannot even hit 2hr with walking. Not good sign for coming HM.

According to Endomondo, 13.10km, completed in 1hr 51min 15secs. Average 8min 30 secs/km pace.

Run 350 - 10km

First run event in 2011.

Tim from LSBC came with a neighbour and picked me up from Hougang MRT. We walked from Telok Ayer St to Marina Promenade Promontory,

Overall the run was good. Started at 7:30am. Flagged off on time with the ladies 10mins behind. Water point every 2km alternating betw Mountain miniral water and 100 Plus. Distance markers could be seen every 1km. THe routes had some up and down slopes but quite manageable. Not too crowded since 7,400 sign up incl women and Fun Run. Just a nice morning run in the city. End point collected medal after take photos. Took photos with Tim & friend at the stage and queue for 100Plus. Had 3 cups.

Together with Tim & neighbour, did a consistent pace of around 8min/km. Finished slightly longer because of a few stops for photos since Tim brought his Canon IXUS digital cam.

Finished in 1hr 22min 24secs for 10km (or 10.27km per Endomondo: Endomondo link). An average 8min 1 sec per km pace including stops. Quite good run in all.

Photos from Tim's camera on the way :)

5th training run of 2011

Left office at 7:45pm. Hoping it didn't rain in Sengkang unlike Raffles Place/ Tanjong Pagar this afternoon.

God was kind. So, 8:16pm, started my planned 5km run. but I didn't take the normal route.

For some reason, my HTC Desire with Endomondo restarted itself almost 3km in the run. No idea why. So my run is split into 2 recordings. Anyway, both add up to 6.3km and I think that's about right.

Endomondo Part A: Endomondo A
Endomondo Part B: Endomondo B

Clocked 6.3km in 47mins with my NB 1226. That's average pace of 7mins 28mins per km which is quite good. But I went too fast int he first 1.5k and was huffing and puffing. Heart went thumping like mad. Walked quite a bit. Anyway, at least I did some run after 1.5 weeks interrupted by rain and thunder and lightning. This Sunday 10km Run 350. Will take it easy.

Might as well record here what God impressed upon me during the run:
Even if I can't run for Him, I can jog. If cannot jog, can walk, if can't walk for Him, can still crawl. But to do nothing, is like a couch potato wasting away life staring at the TV or Monitor or Hp screen....

4th training run of 2011

Only 4th run in 2011 and it's April.........

I started running at 4:40pm. I wanted to wait till 5pm. But the sun disappeared and it turned cloudy. I was telling myself I must run since last week was washed out by rain. Who knew after 300m, it started raining!! I ran in the rain for a few minutes. Was saying to God that I need Him to push away the rain clouds becos I needed to run otherwise, if I don't clock the mileage, then come HM, I might not survive to worry about my struggle over the church's SDJ. Well, rightly or wrongly, God did hear my plea and the rain more or less disappeared. However, it was really warm. The rain released the heat from the pavements...... :S

I ran too fast when it was raining and was sort of punctured by 3rd km. Can't be helped.

In the end, I forced my self to walk and jogged beyond what I thought was wise or rational. I needed to ramp up my mileage. Don't know when I can run again with the wet weather. Work has been very busy and stressful and it was mostly late nights this week past. Next week won't be any better.

Eventually, did around 15km in 1hr 52mins, which is avetrage of 7min 15sec per km pace. That doesn't seem logical.
worse was the Endomondo GPS logger that logged 15.48km, with the 6th km completed in 5mins!! That would be impossible. Anyway, one look at the map clearly showed that 6th km was half of other 1km marks. Although I'm gonna journal as 15km today, I think it's probably even less than 15km!!

3rd training run of 2011

I started earlier today (4:46pm) after a 1 hour sleep (not nap). But I note that from March I've been feeling exhausted a lot. Not sure if I should be concerned but unexplained exhaustion is a symptom of many things from stress to cancer.

It was raining earlier the day and the footpaths were wet here and there. I felt exhausted early on after 2km mark. Probably due to the faster than normal pace in 1st km and also the bright sunshine which probably eventually gave me a little bit of sunstroke. My left hamstring sort of cramped a bit at 10km mark on the Endomondo map. This is after 2 water stops. Not sure it's due to electrolytes deficiency.

Now I wonder what was my pace.

It was 12km based on Endomondo GPS. Endomondo recorded it as 1hr 23min (since the software stops recording if I don't move for 10secs). That would have meant an average running pace of under 7min per km. Maybe I can explain the exhaustion and cramp is due from the pace.

Based on my actual time on watch, it was 1hr 31min and 55 seconds. That would be an average pace of 7min 38 secs / km, which I am happy with since the past 2 runs of 2011 were >8min/km. And today, Endomondo recorded the distance at 12km. So my 10km Run350 should be ok. The May HM is another issue altogether.

2nd training run of 2011

Oops, a little undisciplined in keeping record :p

Saturday morning, 9.76km in 1 hr 21min, or 8min 19secs/km pace. Still slow but slightly faster than 2 weeks ago 1st run. Can view on Endomondo:-

1st training run of 2011

I clocked 8.57 km slow paced jog-a-walk 3mths, 2 weeks and 2 days after fracturing & dislocating small right toe. Lots to catch up on and fitness level has dropped greatly since it took 1hr 14mins (Avg 8min 36secs/km pace). But glad to recover my personal time with Him and clock some klicks. Sengkang has changed a bit in 3 1/2 mths.

From the Endomondo map below, where the 6km mark is a new Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints otherwise known as the Mormon Church. A new Fernvale 99 year condo bordering Anchorvale and the river developed by CDL, H2O show flat was open. A block of HDB flats diagonally opposite Compass Heights have been repainted in tones of green.

But some things don't change. An old lady still digs the grass near junction of Sengkang East Avenue and Sengkang East Road.

Signed up for RUN350 bt NTUC

My toe still a little swell. But I've signed up for RUN 350 10km by NTUC. It's on Sunday, 17 April at Marina Bay Promontory. $20 for 10km for early registration by NTUC member. Good deal to me ^_^

Weblink: Run 350 - Run Info

Yes, a little crazy to sign for a run since not jogging since mid-Nov. But then, I figure if I can't do 10km on 17 April, then my 21km Sundown end of May will be total wash out.
