22nd training (25th) run of 2011

I had a demanding tiring week and the next week would be busy. So, I only planned 10km run.

I realised I made some mistakes. I only drank just sufficient before the run start, didn't bring a bottle of water, expected to drink from the toilet next to the eating places at Punggol not far from Sg Halus Wetland. Problem was, the toilet which was betw 5km-6km was there BUT all the toilet taps were spoilt. So NO water/ hydration. Having run around 7min/km pace instead of my more comfortable 8min/km pace, I was in BIG trouble. By 8km, I was walking but my saliva was really sticky and thick, no more saliva, my muscles from hamstrings and shoulders were aching, I was dehydrating and facing muscular shutdown from lack of hydration even with mainly walking. Pity some humans were so inconsiderate to spoil every single of the 4 taps.

Completed 10.61km in 1hr 21mins - Avg 7min 38secs/km even with so much walking esp after the 7km mark. So, I was really going too fast the first 5km.
