2nd Sat LSD

Woke up automatically before 5:30am. Decided to get out early to avoid the sun. Yet, I did rub the SPF30 onto my arms, shoulders and back of neck. Was hoping can actually run 2hrs to 2.5 hrs.

But, after I started at 5:40am, found that I did not feel so good. Some fatigue and later on in the run, would discover my knees and ligaments above my ankles were really feeling the strain.

I ran along from Sengkang MRT, to Sengkang East Drive, down Upper Serangoon Road, passing Hougang MRT, Kovan MRT and Serangoon MRT, before u-turn and back to Hougang MRT home. Distance: 13.5km. Time taken: 1hr 53mins. Pace of 8.22min/km. It was a tough run though. Somehow, the effort exerted was great. A few times along the route, I felt exhausted. My right knee protested, in fact at Hougang MRT after finishing, my right knee even danced (vibrated) on its own! Ligaments above both ankles felt strained. Climbing down the staircase was a pain (for my calf and right knee). Probably a sign of over-running, perhaps.

I wore the SCSM 07 blue vest. Must say it is better than the BTT white vest, at least it did not soak up and retain the sweat until the vest became heavy with sweat. However, for the first time, I felt nipple burn, only the left nipple though <__<. So, after the 5km+ mark, I had to use my left hand to hold the vest aloft to prevent the rub. It was really painful. No bleeding but pain.

Next time, I would not extend to Serangoon MRT. The pavement before Upper Serangoon Shopping Centre, is crowded and at times non-existent. So back to figuring out a 21km route for training for my 1st 21km. Well, take it one day at a time. No point fretting over it.
